Lauren Brockmiller Halcomb ENG 111 9/23/10 Don Henley VS The Ataris “Boys of Summer.” Everyone knows the song, and almost every word. The two that I’m going to compare and contrast today are the versions by Don Henley and The Ataris. Don Henley wrote the original. This is a song my dad listened to many times when I was little. It was a great song and still is. However, one of “my bands” as my dad would say remade it. The two sound very similar. The feeling that the song gives you is the same in both versions. The voice of the lead singer almost calms you during the song.

Unformatted text preview: The Ataris version has more advanced sounding guitar parts and is very upbeat, where as Henleys version is a little more relaxed. The Ataris is more focused on the sound of the music rather than the voice. Henley focuses on the sound of his voice with the music in the background. In all, there are just subtle differences between the two songs, but enough to be able to tell the difference between them. They are both great versions of the song, it just depends on if youre in a more upbeat mood, or just want to chill....
