Brockmiller 1 Lauren Brockmiller BOT 121 Dr. Moore Rough Draft Keeping Darwin? Is it time to upgrade Darwin? That’s what this article, Darwin Still Rules, But Some Scientists Dream of a Paradigm Shift , explores. This article shows us the different sides that scientists hope to see in the near future. They almost all have a different say about what they think this “Paradigm Shift” should include. This article states that “Paradigm shifts are the stuff of scientific revolutions” (Erwin, 2007). That’s exactly what removing Darwin’s original discovery of evolution would do to the current study of the evolutionary science. The modern synthesis is what has been taking the place of Darwin’s ideas. This is an idea that can continually be adapted to new discoveries, unlike Darwin’s evolutionary change ideas, which were pretty concrete. This article states that mutations, not natural selection, are what drive evolution. This new idea of mutations changing organisms instead of natural selection overshadows
