Chelsea Mosser ES 105 Homework 3 6/2/10 1. Building Integrated PV- This is a photovoltaic technology that is implemented and designed for buildings. The materials that are used to replace conventional building materials in parts of the building envelope such as the roof, skylights, or facades. It could be used in the range from homes to non-domestic buildings. They are being incorporated in the construction of new buildings but existing building can be retrofitted as well. An example would be to put solar cells on the roof of the building. Vehicle Integrated PV- This is a photovoltaic technology that is implemented and designed for cars. They are building materials for cars that replace the conventional materials for cars that integrate PV cells. An example would be to put solar cells on the roof top of a car to maximize its energy. 2. Doping is the adding a certain type of atoms to the semiconductor in order to increase the number of free charge carriers . When the doping material is added, it takes away weakly-bound outer electrons from the semiconductor atoms. This type of doping agent
