The Toronto Star states: “The CEOs Artfully Intervene: Leaders Declare Liberal Arts Studies Must Be Funded for Well-Rounded Professionals.” Liberal arts students will have the upper hand in getting a job upon graduation because of the education they received. First Section-by: Dan Croghan Importance of a Liberal Arts Education A liberal arts education is important in creating successful business employees. According to the Association of American Colleges and Universities, a liberal arts education is “an approach to learning that empowers individuals and prepares them to deal with complexity, diversity, and change” (LEAP). 2 companies the entry level jobs require basic knowledge and the ability to quickly learn. Specifics of the job are usually learned on site and though experience. According to a survey done by the National Society of Colleges and Employers, “most hiring managers care more about a job candidate’s skills than they do about a college major” (Gehlhaus 3). The skills that are most sought after are communication and critical thinking, which are known qualities of students who get a liberal arts education (Gehlhaus 3).
