Reflection Journal Entry #1 – my personal response to the experience of the first day of class Being that I signed up for the Fundamentals of Acting, I was expecting to be greeted by a more basic and lighter approach since I’m starting at the very beginning. I was thrown off by the instant dive into the theoretical aspects of acting and its background. I was surprised because I thought we would work more on our personal style of acting, improving our own approach and working on portraying emotions by learning how to develop basic emotions useful in auditions. Instead, we went straight into the history and the orientation which the basis of the modern acting form has emerged from. Personally I thought acting was spontaneous and expressed in many ways even if trying to portray the same thing. I always thought it was left up to the individual’s discretion to feel and portray however he wishes. I came across a show once while I was surfing through the channels on TV, called Victorious
