Solutions will be provided for all of the problems.) Due: Wednesday, July 13 at 5pm (on-­૒campus: EEB340, slide under the door if you don’t find me. Off-­૒campus through DEN.) There will be a quiz on the 15 th and we will post the solutions on Wednesday, therefore late submissions are accepted latest by 8pm with penalties: Submissions between 5&6pm: 4% penalty, 6&7pm: 9%, 7&8pm: 15%. 1) (30 pts) (a) Repeat problem 10 of HW2 using Go-Back-N error/flow control and assuming 3 sequence bits. (b) Also repeat that problem using Selective-Repeat error/flow control and assuming 3 sequence bits. NOTE: For both parts draw both the send and receive windows for each transmission. 2) (30 pts) (a) Redo the frame flow diagram of page 44, part b to show the size of the send window cannot be higher than 7, however this time the first outstanding frame is 2, instead of 0. You should show the send and receive windows similarly to the diagram of page 44. (b) Redo the frame flow diagram of page 54, part b to show the size of the send window cannot be higher than 8. Assume the first outstanding bit of the send window is 0 (similar to the page 54 example.) Note that for each case you should calculate the number of sequence bits first. 3) (10 pts) Consider the extended LAN connected using the learning bridges B1 and B2 in the following figure. Suppose the bridge tables are originally empty. List all ports a frame will be forwarded for the following sequence of data transmission. Also show how the B1 and B2 tables are updated based on the information of each transmission.
