Unformatted text preview: QuickBooks 2010 ProAdvisor Certification Course Section 3 – 247 Module 8 – Payroll and Time Tracking Lesson 1 – Introduction to Payroll and Time Tracking Video Commentary QuickBooks makes complex payroll transactions easy to enter and report. However, there are some potential errors clients make, and some complex situations that you may encounter. The purpose of this module is to help you handle those complex situations and correct those errors. Remember…you learn the entire payroll cycle…from creating paychecks to paying payroll liabilities…in the 2 day Mastering QuickBooks training. Repeating this material is beyond the scope of this training. By the end of this module, you‘ll know how to setup payroll items and schedules. You‘ll also learn to enter year to date payroll information and after the fact payroll. Then you learn some tricks, like job costing an employee‘s salary and labor burden, and replacing lost or damaged checks. Because clients sometimes pay payroll liabilities the wrong way…you learn the right way and how to find and fix incorrectly paid liabilities. Suppose a client pays a portion of their employees‘ health insurance? How do you account for the employee and company portion? You learn how during this module. You also learn how to track employee loans and repayments, how to adjust W-2s and 941s and how to create client ready payroll reports. This is the last module of the certification course.
