Philosophy 8-26 and 8-31 Etymology- word origins Metaphysical questions- Does God exist? Do you have a soul and what is that? Do you have free will? Life after death? Epistemology- Truth and certainty. Conditions of truth and whether we know anything about certainty. Ethics- Is concerned with the GOOD and RIGHT. Practical reasoning where metaphysics and epistemology is more abstract Logic- Concerned with truth. Is this argument valid does it follow the proper steps? Aesthetics- Concerned with the beautiful. What is beauty? What makes something beautiful? Attributes of beauty? The Euthyprho- (religious teacher / prophet)  What is Piety? Socrates looking for essential feature of piety that makes all piteous acts  pious.   What is the right thing to do in life?  Definition 1- is an example not a definition Definition 2- what the gods like or consider right  - However, they said that not all things are dear to all gods and they disagree  about things Definition 3- what ALL gods like is pious and what they hate is impious
