The Labor and stress of teaching children with disabilities were obvious from reading the assignment. The teacher, Pat Mims, however, did not really focus on these difficulties. She was more concerned with the time and the course syllabus set by the state, even while embroiled in the very difficult work of teaching the children in her class. She was so into the practicalities of teaching that she seemed to fail to take notice or pride in the fact that her students were doing such a great job despite their disabilities. The video on the other hand told a much different story. In this case the teacher did not ignore the children’s disabilities in fact each child was accepted despite the disabilities he/or she has.

Unformatted text preview: The teacher really focused on the work that the children were engaged in. She seemed to be excited about the progress that the children were making in class. Unlike Pat Mims this teacher did not on the practicalities, this teacher seemed to truly take pleasure in watching the progress of the children. All of this points to the fact that we as teachers must always have a positive attuide going into our classes. This not only helps the children. But it helps us as well. Sure the practicalities of the class need to be dealt with. These give structure to the days for both children and the teacher, but the children need to be made just as important. I once heard that you are not a teacher until you have actually taught someone something....
