Course Description: Emphasizes quality engineering approaches for software project management, planning, estimating, design, development and distribution. Analysis of Capability Maturity Models, ISO 9001 and IEEE 12207 Standards is also emphasized. Based on their operational concepts document, students develop a well-defined Software Quality Assurance plan. Approach: Students perform work on both an individual and team assignment. The individual project is a research paper that allows the student an opportunity to research a quality related topic of their choice. The team project allows students to focus in a team environment to demonstrate their understanding of Software Quality Assurance and apply the concepts they learn in class. Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the students will be able to: Demonstrate an understanding of quality management tools and practices including Six Sigma, Benchmarking, SPC, quality tools, and ISO 9000-2000.
