Anna Gomenyuk English 102 Summary January 28, 2011 Today, the love two individuals may have for one another can be so strong that it can withstand any obstacles these people may face. The film “David & Layla”, based on a true story, is the perfect example of the modern day Romeo and Juliet. It was produced in 2005and took place in New York. David Moscow and Shiva Rose play the roles of David and Layla. This romantic comedy shows how the two of them practiced different religions but did not let that difference come between them David was Jewish who fell deeply in love with Layla, a Muslim refugee from Iraq. You can see the irony of a Muslim and a Jew falling in love. Things were quite difficult when the families did not approve. David was expected convert to Islam in order to marry Layla. The film shows how much someone would do for the one they love. It also acquaints you with the Muslim and Jewish religions, showing the struggles that people with different believes faced to be together.
