Dalien Duquerette English 98/99 Ms. Abrams December 1, 2010 The Power of a Secret Have you ever kept a secret from someone? Have someone ever kept a secret from you? Secrets tend to bother a lot of people. What they do not know is that secrets are only powerful and frightening if you give them importance. You act as if nothing is bothering you don’t allow people to catch on that you have a secret. Besides, once a secret is out, you will be freed from its chains of guilt. It’s very wise to reveal a secret and not give it importance because a secret is nothing more than information withheld from society. In the book Tumbling written by Diane McKinney-Whetstone, Willie Mann had a secret that no one really knew. He had done a few illegal activities. “Willie Mann did not tell his community that Club Royale owed the city for back real estate taxes, that he’d racked up for citations for violating the blue laws when served liquor on Sundays mornings, that he been caught buying wholesale from a nonlicensed distributor in new
