Final Exam Date Group 8 Dream Theories: 1.  Freudian:  suggests that the reason that we dream is b/c it gives us access to the  unconscious.  Pulls up information that we cannot readily access in our waking state…allows up  to express our selves without consciousness…overall putting you at a situation to relax, and deal  with anxiety Psychoanalytic Approach 2.  Activation-synthesis:  Why do we dream?  There’s no particular reason, b/c dreams  don’t mean anything.  We just name them dream, but nothing is happening.  Activation:  suggests that our dreams are nothing more  than random neural firing of the brain.        Our bodies  don’t shut down when we are sleeping.  The brain just ‘hits’ random parts of the brain. Overall  meaningless activity of neural cells in the brain. Synthesis (hints at Cognitive Approach):
