Intro to Psych 22 February_Wed . Sleep Disorders (altered states of consciousness) -Insomnia  60 million (15 million of the 60 have severe of chronic problems) -Transient (that last 2-3 days, diff. reasons: sleep wake cycle is off…will re-adjust -Apnea  most commonly associated with heavy snoring.  You stop breathing through the night;  Can contribute to insomnia; Weakens the lungs and the heart, b/c of the amount of stress  applied to each.       - Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) : When infants stop breathing at night (apnea),  their lungs and body overall, are not fully developed to ‘fight through it’.  Doctors tell patients
