Sharon Ng Professor Henderson BUS051 5 July 2011 Lesson 5 Homework Donna Hamilton is excited to open her own restaurant, the Westminster Inn. Although Donna has worked as a chef and even managed a number of restaurants during her career, she is concerned that she gets off to a good start. Donna spends several weeks before the restaurant opens setting goals. 1. What benefits can Donna expect from goal setting? Answer: From goal setting, Donna can expect to have a strong sense of direction and guidance at all levels because when she sets goals, there is less potential for error in the different units of her restaurant. Goal setting will also help her restaurant allocate resources. The company allocates more resources to new projects with large sales potential than it allocates to mature products with established by stagnant sales potential. Goal setting will also help to define her corporate culture. If she is successful from goal setting, her corporate culture will reward success and has little tolerance for failure.
