Sharon Ng Professor Diamond BUS061 10 July 2011 Chapter 4 Homework 1. What are the two underlying sources of criticism of business? Do you think these sources are justified? Answer: Two underlying sources of criticism of business include 1) the belief that people in business place profit before more worthy values such as honesty, truth, justice, love, piety, etc. and 2) the strain placed on societies by economic development. I believe that these sources are justified because in the real world, many people’s motives are to gain economic stability and profits. We go out to interact and work with businesses to earn enough money to do whatever we want, whether it is taking a vacation, going to school, or raising kids. Often times, we are so involved and delved into the idea of making money we sometimes forget worthy values. This is why people steal money sometimes, or valuable items, because they place profit before their values. 2. Please define and explain the populist and progressive movements. Please
