James Soyemi Human Sexuality Prof. Sullivan Symbolic Interaction-Plummer Throughout history there were three main sex research methods widely accepted by the world. Freud’s method works with childhood memories and the unconscious to determine the present state of an individual. Kinsey’s method was based on a collection of data through interviews, questionnaires, and statistical computation to determine sexual behavior. Masters and Johnson’s method examines the physiology of sexual arousal by using controlled lab observation. All three methods are highly effective and have distinct flaws. A new method is being introduced that will examine the world of transvestites, transsexuals, homosexuals, prostitutes, etc. The researchers of the three traditional methods did not venture into the other world of sexual beings. Although Kinsey interviewed some gay men, his study was not in-depth and there wasn’t a wide range of unusual sex behaviors.
