James Soyemi Human Sexuality Prof. Sullivan Sexual Transmitted Diseases The transition from the 1970s to the early 1990s sparked a remarkable change in the conduct and frequency of sexual intercourse. The lifestyle the hippies and many unaware STD infected individuals provided a carefree society in the relation of sex. Due to many famous moguls and people dying in a matter of weeks, more attention was centered towards the prevention of STDs. The chapter entitled Sexually Transmitted Diseases explains the variety of sexually transmitted diseases and the staggering statistics behind different forms of STDs. As a college student it shocked me to know that 1 in 4 sexually experienced adolescents are infected with one or more STDs. In a research they conducted at Temple University a couple months ago, 1 in 10 students that attend this university has a STD. The fact that many people don’t realize they have one or more STDs is devastating to me. Chlamydia is a popular STD. It is a bacterial infection caused by Chlamydia trachomatis,
