Sharon Ng Psychology 1 May 17, 2009 Psychology Essay #6 – Asperger Syndrome This audio covered some interesting aspects of the Asperger’s Syndrome.  Volkmar, a leading researcher of this disease, explains that it is a form of autism  characterized by deficits in social interaction and non-verbal communication. He shares  with the audience some interesting facts on this syndrome – the characteristics, what it  is, and how people are affected by it. Asperger Syndrome is an autism spectrum disorder. People with this disorder  display significant difficulties in social interaction and restricted patterns of behavior.  This particular syndrome differs from other ASDs by its relative preservation of cognitive  development. There is no known single treatment for the Asperger Syndrome. There is
