Ford and Firestone As an Engineer working for the Ford Motor Company during the time period of the tire recall refer to my codes of ethics I would definitely feel as if I should reconsider the design of the Ford Explorer and how it interacted with the tires From Firestone. I would implement some sort of test that would simulate the tires malfunctioning and try to figure out where the design flaw is that causes the vehicle to roll over. The safety of the public should always be the number one concern with issues like this one. Regardless of the cost to fix the discrepancy something should be done to correct it. I feel like the engineers at ford motor company did the right thing by leaving firestone and recalling all of the firestone tires at their own expense but that was the ethical thing to do. Yes it hurt their profits but it most likely made them money in the long run with customer satisfaction and a avoiding a lawsuit from a design flaw. Ford took it one step further by changing the design of the Explorer to help with the
