Consumer’s International “Consumers International (CI) is the world federation of consumer groups that, working together with its members, serves as the only independent and authoritative global voice for consumers.” What this means is that they are building a powerful network developed to empower and protect consumers internationally. The company’s principles are based on consumer rights, which are the right to satisfaction of basic needs, the right to safety, the right to be informed, and the right to choose, the right to be heard, the right to redress, the right to consumer education, and the right to a healthy environment. The main goal is to work towards changing government policy and corporate behavior at the same time raising awareness of consumer rights and responsibilities. (Consumers Internatinal, 2011) CI works towards achieving this goal in several ways. They seek to hold corporations to account and demands government action to put consumer concerns first.
