It’s Not Midnight Yet! There are several questions that need to be answered to evaluate whether or not Sacred Grounds should be held liable for Hanni’s actions. The first question is was the tort committed by Hanni do within the scope of his employment. From my point of view Hanni was pursuing personal interest because he acted in anger and attacked Demetrious to prevent him from calling his superior and complaining about the shop closing before the post hours. This was clearly Hanni acting on a personal mission to save himself from a complaint to management. The second question that needs to be answered would be “Did Sacred Grounds recklessly employ Hanni without doing a back ground check to see if he had any type of issue like an anger management problem?” Regardless of what the answers for the two questions are the fact is that Hanni attacked Demetrious on Sacred Ground property during business hours. Hanni is an employee of Sacred Grounds and was on shift at the time of the tort. This makes Hanni liable for his own actions as
