1 WEEK 4 HOMEWORK 10-34. A recent article in vitality magazine reported that the mean amount of leisure time per week for American men is 40.0 hours. You believe this figure is too large and decide to conduct your own test. In a random sample of 60 men, you find that the mean is 37.8 hours of leisure per week and that the standard deviation of the sample is 12.2 hours. Can you conclude that the information in the article is untrue? Use the .05 significance level. Determine the p-value and explain its meaning. At the .05 significance level and with 59% of freedom, the critical value of t is -2.0010 H0: μ ≥ 40 H1 : μ < 40 Our test statistic is not less than the critical value, it falls in the region of non-rejection; therefore we cannot reject the null hypothesis which means there is not enough evidence to say that the information in the article is untrue. 10-38. The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
