2 Ethical Issues in Organizational Behavior Ethical issues are easily a top concern in organizations based simply on the fact that ethics define the foundation of which an organization is built. Ethics are the structure for which corporate policies, corporate culture, and corporate norms are developed, and therefore govern the way an organization does business. This, in turn, creates a profound influence on the choices, beliefs, and behaviors of its employees. It is a well accepted ideal that individuals should act morally. Every member of society is expected to distinguish between right and wrong, and then act accordingly. It has become increasingly apparent that businesses should also govern themselves by a similar concern with ethical values. The only way for businesses to live up to ethical policies is to employ a workforce that values ethical behavior and, therefore, acts ethically in business dealings. With a
