SEXUALITY AT DIFFERENT LIFE STAGES  2 Sexuality at Different Life Stages Many actions lead to sexual intercourse for the first time. Being in love is one of them. Among others there is peer pressure, resentment toward parents, and the fear of losing one’s partner if one chooses not to engage in sexual activity. Regardless of Anna’s age, only one of these reasons should matter in her decision to have sex with her boyfriend for the first time. If Anna does indeed love her boyfriend it is important for her to know for sure that the feeling is mutual before she considers sleeping with him. If she is sure that he loves her, she should have a talk with him and explain her mother’s concerns. The two of them should arrange a time in which they can sit down and discuss their feelings toward each other with Anna’s mother. Finding out exactly how she feels about what her parents are telling her would be a starting point to see her reactions to a conflict situation. Many teens rebel and do things that they may not have normally done when they feel uncomfortable with the way their parents feel about things. This may make her feel more comfortable with their relationship. Anna should also
