Identify potential competitors for Microsoft’s Internet search engine product Live. Are there any new competitors that could threaten Microsoft’s market follower position? Potential competitors for Microsoft’s Internet search engine product Live include Google, Yahoo, ASK, AOL Search, and Baidu. There are no new competitors that could threaten Microsoft’s market follower position, simply because Microsoft’s Live position as a market follower exists with a significant gap between the two top search engines, Google and Yahoo, and the three other search engines that follow, are not new competitors, but definitely a threat. You are an executive at Microsoft. Analyze Google as a competitor using the analysis tools provided in the chapter (strategies, resources, culture and objectives). As an executive at Microsoft, and by analyzing Google as a competitor, I would say that their strategies included a confusing product introduction to its customers, their prices were not mentioned to have increased, so that’s a good thing, and an effective new advertising campaign
