Skyline College Syllabus for Biology 250 Human Anatomy Biology 250 – Human Anatomy McDaniel 1 Instructor: John McDaniel Instructor’s email: mcdanielj@smccd.edu Office Hours: T/TH by Appointment 2:15pm-2:45pm Office Location: Catch me in the classroom/lab or make an appointment for room 7102 Scheduled Times: Lecture: Tues/Thurs 9:35am until 10:50am Lab Section AA : Tues 11:10am until 2:15pm Lab Section AB Thurs 11:10am until 2:15pm Scheduled Rooms: Lecture: Room 2306 Lab: Room 7210 Course Description Biology 250 is a 4 unit, one semester course in human anatomy. This course is an overview of all of the organ systems of the human body covering gross and microscopic anatomy. The first lecture topics will be nomenclature/terminology, an overview of the human body, orientations, cytology, histology and embryology. The subsequent lectures will incorporate this base knowledge in the discussion of the major organ systems; integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, cardiovascular, blood, lymphatic, respiratory, digestive, renal, endocrine and reproductive systems. The lab component integrates the lecture material with a practical hands-on approach. The student learns to identify human anatomy through the use of microscopes, dissections, models and diagrams/charts. In addition, you are required to complete a minimum of 17 hours of open lab time. This can be during open lab hours or by coming to the lab where you are not enrolled. Ie. You have the Tuesday lab and you also attend three one hours of the Thursday lab each week. There will be a sign-in protocol to keep track of your time. Required Texts , 8 th Edition (2007), E.
