If blood from an exposed Rh- person is introduced into an Rh+ individual, the antibodies will clump the Rh+ blood and kill the individual. DD and Dd are Rh+ and dd is Rh-. If a dd woman has a child with a Rh+ man, Dd children, who are Rh+, can be produced. At the birth, the first Dd child suffers no consequence, but if the mother is exposed to the child's blood at birth, she becomes exposed and produces antibodies. If the mother has more Dd children, antibodies from the mother can kill the next Dd children. Homozygote DD children are not affected because a DD child cannot have a dd mother. Homozygote dd children are not affected because a dd child doesn't have an Rh factor and will not react to antibodies from a dd mother.
