The GM automobile company does not work like any other company out in the market. The do not prefer stability or continuity, but became comfortable, self-referential, and boastful. They believe that hard work will overcome adversity any day and every day of the week. These traits still persist even though GM is still on the downfall. There are many important concepts that this article talks about, but I will focus on our main three: bankruptcy, conformity, and recruiting. Every year since the 1960’s, the car industry has been changing. Customer prefers different cars, competition is harsh, technology is leading the way and GM is always behind in every aspect. GM cars, such as Buicks and Pontiacs have been losing market share for years, crushing the GM capital. This company has tried to get redemption a number of times only to be shot down by doing what it always has done: “by doing it the GM way”. If you would ask Rick Wagner why GM isn’t mo re like Toyota, he would tell you, “We’re playing our own game- taking advantage of our own unique heritage and strengths.”
