INEN314 Homework #3 (Due 09/26) The following problems are related to your experiments in Lab#3. You need to use the data collected from the Lab to finish this homework. Experiment 1. [7 pts] ( without replacement ) 1a) What would be the probabilities that x = 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 heads? What is the mean and standard deviation of x? 1b) Using your data, construct a histogram of the 15 observations and draw the theoretical distribution from part (1a) on the same chart. Do the two seem consistent? What is the sample average and sample standard deviation of x? Does this seem consistent with part (1a)? Experiment 2. [9 pts] ( with replacement ) 2a) What would be the probabilities that x = 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 heads? What is the mean and standard deviation of x? 2b) Using your data, construct a histogram of the 15 observations and draw the theoretical distribution from part (2a) on the same chart. Do the two seem consistent? What is the sample average and sample standard deviation of x? Does this seem consistent with part (2a)?
