1 INEN314 Homework #6 ( Due 10/17, No Late Homework will be accepted for this assignment ) Problem 1 is related to your experiments in Lab#6. You need to use the data collected from the Lab to finish this homework. 1. [12 pts] Using the typing time data you collect during Lab #6. Approach 1. 1. Calculate the sample mean and variance of typing time of typist A, denoted as A x and 2 A S , respectively. Calculate the sample mean and variance of typing time of typist B, denoted as B x and 2 B S , respectively. 2. Calculate the difference between the average typing time between A and B, denoted as B A x . 3. What is the pooled variance of the entire typing time data? (assume the variances of both persons are the same, use the formula for 2 p S ). Calculate the value, denoted as 2 total S . 4. You want to conclude if the typing times for two typists are the same. Write down the hypothesis, H 0 and H 1 . Given α =0.05, conducted a t-test. What conclusion you can make in regard to the hypothesis you made?

What students are saying

• As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

• I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.
