Section 12 The Evolution ofthe Golf Ball Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about the evolution of the golf ball D Central Idea: The golf ball has seen many changes since it was first invented and now has reached a stage where it has become a standardized piece of golf equipment. Pattern of Organization: Chronoiogical Introduction: I. Attention: How many of you can tell me something that travels at 170 mph the moment it takes off? How many of you think of a bullet? How about an airplane? II. Reveal Topic: What if I told you that today's golf ball can travel at speeds of 170 mph immediately after it is hit? III. Relate to Audience: I can tell by looking around that there are a few golfers in the room, but this is a game in which anyone can play and by knowing some of the history of it you will enjoy the game that much more as you continue to play or start playing the game for the first time. IV. Credibility: My research, professional golf association education and my experience as a player. V.
