Religious Ethics A system of ethical rules or principles associated with religion; or determining right from wrong based on the teachings of a religion. Primal Religions • Belief in a omnipresent, invisible force. – Communicates its will through objects – Related to special occurrences • Mana – Cause of all creation. – Cause of floods, volcanoes. • Importance of ancestors. Important Terms Theism – Belief in a supernatural Supreme Being , usually referred to as a god or goddess. Theological – Based on study or belief in a Supreme Being. Theocracy – Government ruled by a supernatural Supreme Being, rather than by people. Polytheism – Belief in more than one supernatural being or god. Monotheism – Belief in a single Supreme Being or God. Polytheism – Belief in a single Supreme Being or God. Agnosticism – Uncertainty about the existence of a Supreme Being or god. Atheism – The belief that no Supreme Being or God exists.
