Meiosis & Sex Ch. 13 Sexual reproduction creates new combinations of alleles. Sex and reproduction are different things. Sexual reproduction requires haploid (1n) and diploid (2n) stages. Diploid cells have homologous pairs of chromosomes: 1 from mom, 1 from dad. Sexual reproduction requires haploid (1n) and diploid (2n) stages.
