Adam Ohanesian Assignment #5 4/21/2011 If I was going to open a manufacturing factory, I would open one in Australia based upon the data with two decisive factors jumping out at me, labor costs and productivity. Looking at total hourly compensation, Australia ranked third out of the five countries in both 2008 and 2009. Reviewing the productivity (output per hour) statistics, Australia ranked with the lowest annual growth rate in 2008 however in 2009 they ranked highest. Also note that Australia was the only country that finished with a positive growth rate in 2009 out of the five countries which indicates to me they are heading in the right direction. Australia also has the second lowest unemployment rate each year from 2008 to 2010. Although, the company would be paying a bit more than they would in other countries, third is right in the middle and the annual growth rate is the highest and heading in the right direction based on the trends. The following is an evaluation of investment opportunities for each of the five countries.
