Chapter 13 Sales and operations Planning - Also known as aggregate planning - Involves a lot of functional areas of business Planning level - Intermediate planning: staffing, resources, levels of inventory The planning sequence - Were coming from the general business environment and then is built into a businesss plan - Were trying to operationalize the overall business. Aggregation - We try to generate the aggregate plan so that the public can understand Dealing with variation - Budget will not be modified until the next year. - However, they will try to adjust it periodically. Dealing with variation - ? Overview of Aggregate planning - Were always looking ahead from where we are so that our plan stays relevant Demand and Supply - ? Aggregate Planning Inputs - Production rates and how that relates to workforce - What pieces of equipment do we have and demands do we have for that piece of equipment - We have to get more specific for demand forecasting.
