Unformatted text preview: I am a resident of the City of Covington in Georgia and I am interested in learning more about my community. I choose this aggregate in order to achieve that and also to become familiar with the obstacles that might be facing my community. I see Covington as a quiet laid back community but I would like to know if there are underlying problems that are not easily identified. The City of Covington is located in Newton County in the state of Georgia about 32 miles east of Atlanta and 37 miles south of Athens. It is bordered by Conyers on the west, Social Circle on the east, Walton county to the north and Porterdale to the south. The population is about 14,980 of which 47% are males and 53% are females. The population of Covington grew about 15% throughtout the 90’s and has grown about 9% since 2005 ( www.idcide.com ). The history of downtown Covington has a cadence not unlike many Southern towns.
