Visual Analysis In America Now there were some very intriguing photographs. The first one that caught my eye was on page 17. It’s a picture of American soldiers putting up an American flag on the island of Iwo Jima. Although I have seen the picture before, I still fill with a sense of pride for our country. However, it was not till I was assigned this paper that I realized that that was the photographer’s whole purpose. If a person is not inspired after a picture of American soldiers raising the flag after intense battle, where I’m sure that some of their comrades had died in, then, frankly, I don’t know what would. When reading the corresponding paragraphs, I noticed that the picture wasn’t even the original occurrence, but a reenactment. Apparently, the first time, the flag was too small, so they replaced it with a larger one. Also, the photographer caught the soldiers while they were putting up the flag. It wouldn’t seem to be a big deal, but they way the soldiers are angled, it makes it look like it slightly more of a struggle than it was. Upon turning
