Literacy Autobiography In today’s society, if someone has to wait more than a couple of seconds for a webpage to load they have a melt down. Personally, I can remember when it took a number of minutes to dial up. It was about that time that public chat rooms were the coolest thing since sliced bread. Thinking back, I never really had much experience with that sort of thing because it was my dad that had internet, but I was living with my mom at the time. Then the day came when I got to go to my first chat room. I was having a good time, until I wanted to reply to someone’s comment. I soon realized that these people were way more advanced in their typing than I was. By the time I had finished typing my reply, the comment, and the topic, were long gone. I decided to shrug it off; everyone’s got to start some where, I told myself. Then, the next blow came; the abbreviations they were using might have well been ancient hieroglyphics; I didn’t know what “lol” or “brb” or any of the others meant. It was then that I
