McMillen 1 Orin McMillen 7 December 2008 Mrs. Neal English 150 Fountain of the Four Seasons The Iowa State University campus has seen many changes since the first class graduated in 1872. There have been numerous works of art added to the campus by various artists including some from the ISU faculty. Several of the works have been done by Christian Peterson, an Danish immigrant, in the early to middle 1900’s. One of Peterson’s more public works was the Fountain of the Four Seasons. Christian Peterson finished the Fountain in 1942, with some help from the 1937 VEISHEA committee. Needless to say, it wasn’t his first work of art. Peterson’s work may be found all around campus. For example, the figures at the gymnasium were Peterson’s work, and so was the Marriage Ring in the home economics building. Another work of art you may have noticed is the statues of the Library Boy and Girl. According to Christian Peterson, by Lea Rosson Delong, the Library Boy and Girl, “are in the room containing Wood’s Breaking the Prairie , and they are placed on pedestals framing both sides of the entrance to the staircase that leads up to his other PWAP murals.”

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
