Unformatted text preview: Orin McMillen Mrs. Neil Eng. 150 8 September 2008 The Flood of 2008 The summer of 2008 proved to be a challenge for a majority of the population in Iowa. What started out as delayed spring showers, turned into devastating floods blanketing the better half of the state. Im sure you could ask just about anyone it, and they would have stories to tell you till the sun went down, but this isnt their story; its mine. My summer started out hectic, sad, and boring. As soon as I graduated, my parents and I moved to Johnston. It wasnt far, but still far enough to keep me from hanging out with my friends as much as I wanted to before we would all go our separate ways. When I wasnt working, I was trying to find something to do. It was then that I realized that too much freedom and not many responsibilities equaled boredom.
