To reduce absenteeism in our company we have come up with several changes to how we will operate. We believe that job enrichment is the best way to cut back on absenteeism therefore most of our ideas stem from that concept. The first change we want to make is to initiate flex time. With flex time, employees will be able to come in early or stay late. We plan to have our business open from 6 am to 6 pm. The core business hours in which everyone has to be there is from 10 am- 2 pm. Our company believes this will work because not everyone has the same schedule so we should be more accommodating. They may want to come in earlier so that they can be able to pick up their kids from school, or maybe they want to work out in the mornings so they could stay later in the afternoon, either way we should realize that time are changing and we should too. The next change we want to make is to the sick days. Instead of having sick days and vacation days separate, we want to combine them into one category of paid time off (PTO). This time can be used for anything from going to a funeral to taking a much needed vacation.
