ANALYSIS OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF TOURISM IN LUNDU, SARAWAK Noor Syafiqah Binti Mohd (49853) Supervisor: Encik Shaik Azahar Bin Shaik Hussain Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak [email protected] ABSTRACT Analysis of Sustainable Tourism Development in Lundu, Sarawak is a study on the development of tourism has been and will be done in Lundu. This study focuses on the development aspects of the impact of tourism on society in Lundu, involvement of village communities to the development of tourism in Lundu, Sarawak and potential Lundu, Sarawak as the development of sustainable tourism. This study uses two methods of data collection which are quantitative and qualitative. Through quantitative methods, questionnaires were distributed to 350 respondents in the study area, namely in Lundu, Sarawak. Through qualitative approaches, researchers have interviewed the elected head village and Office staffs inLundu District who have extensive knowledge of development in Sarawak Lundu. Data were analyzed for the study. All the data obtained are described in tables and diagrams. Next, the proposal forwarded to the relevant authorities and researchers hope that this study will be conducted in the future with a more complete and provides benefit to the community and anyone in need Keywords: tourism development, sustainable tourism, the impact of construction, community Lundu, community involvement, the potential of tourism, sustainable tourism locations Introduction Lundu residents will have plenty of various development projects whether big or small, under the leadership of Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem (Borneo Post Online, 2016). For the eco- tourism sector, the waterfront along the river banks in Lundu and Sematan will be built. Resorts and other tourism will also be upgraded to attract tourists to Lundu and Sematan. In addition, large projects will be taken to Sematan and Lundu is the Pan Borneo Highway, Construction Matriculation College and other projects, including mosques and halls.
Earlier in his speech, Tan Sri Adenan said that Lundu not only has a beautiful panorama but also full of history and legends that have been studied the potential in terms of tourism. "Lundu is the closest to Kuching and easily accessed. However, to make it a great base from which to build, we need a study, especially in terms of tourism (Borneo Post Online, 2016). The development of the tourism industry is also seen to have a positive impact in terms of economic development, social and physical to all relevant parties. Lundu have a potential as a tourist destination with natural attractions (News Malaysia, 2013). Thus, Lundu have a potential to be served as a sustainable tourism destination in line with international tourism.
