Bailey, 2011 English 102 Critical Analysis Assignment Critical Analysis Essay: First, make sure you have chosen a piece of writing that is related to your Field of Inquiry. It must be a non-fiction text. It could be an article you found on Academic Search Premiere, it could be a chapter of a book that relates to your topic of interest, it could be an interview conducted with someone who is a key player in your FOI. This text should be no longer than 30 pages, as you will not have enough time to evaluate it thoroughly in the paper. The purpose for writing a critique is to evaluate someone's work in order to increase the reader's understanding of it. A critical analysis is subjective writing because it expresses the writer's opinion or evaluation of a text. Analysis means to break down and study the parts. The Critical Analysis will culminate in a minimum of 5 pages (4 full pages +), typed, normal fonts/margins.
