Nick Gomez Reba Bailey English 102-074 2 February 2011 Student Essay Reading Response: Aftermath of Katrina In all honesty, before I read this student essay I really only knew what I thought were the basics of the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. I didn’t really know details I just knew that it was devastating and a lot of people were evacuated and had their homes completely destroyed. Reading this gave me so much more insight to the situation. Overall though, with this essay I felt that the amount of research information drew me in even more. This person did indeed use their own opinion on this subject. However, I feel that they found a way to wrap their opinion around the research information; sounding more like they knew what they were talking about and obviously backing the opinion up with facts. At first I thought that this person was going to give all of these reasons to why FEMA should take and is ultimately the one to blame for the damages of Katrina. What surprised me is how this person twisted it in such a way to show all who should be held responsible for not
