Nicholas Gomez Dr. Michael Blankenship CJ 101-002 4 March 2011 Court Visitation Assignment 1. On March 4, 2011 I visited the Ada County Courthouse between 10:30 and 12:30 and spent my time in rooms 202 and 504. 2. The Honorable Judges Watkins and Owen were the presiding judges. 3. The majority of cases that I sat in on were misdemeanors and involved alcohol in some way. There were two FTA’s, two MIC’s, a 911 call disturbance due to intoxication, a case of petty theft, and I wasn’t exactly sure about one of them but the man only had to pay a fee regarding a past court appearance and was given more time to pay it. These were just the misdemeanors however; I did sit in on a felony case which also involved alcohol through a DUI. All but the felony case were guilty pleas/plea bargains. The felony case was a pre-trial. 4. Case 1 -This case turned out to be an FTA or failure to attend so the defendant was issued a warrant for their arrest. Case 2 -This case also turned out to be an FTA and a warrant for the defendant’s arrest was also issued.
