Andrew Coppa In Art 200 3/23/11 Elvis’s Whispered Dream “The term “American Dream” is an idea that suggests that all people can succeed through hard work, and that all people have the potential to live happy.” Elvis’s development as an American icon would affect and change our society and people forever. Presley was more than your everyday recording artist; he spoke softly, but carried a big stick. From having nothing as a child to becoming a household name, his rise to stardom was truly inspirational to all Americans. He showed that an everyday “jo-smo” could make the American dream a reality. This is why the “dream” that Elvis Presley “whispered in everybody’s ear” was so powerful; it was relatable. This dream was whispered not told. Elvis wasn’t trying to set an example, he was just being himself and this is why Elvis was such an outstanding person.
