Read Chapter 5 including the Highlights section to help in completing this assignment. Dietary Guidelines for Americans : ● Consume less than 10% of calories from saturated fatty acids and less than 300 mg/day of cholesterol, and keep trans fatty acid consumption as low as possible. ● Keep total fat intake between 20-35% of calories, with most fats coming from sources of polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fatty acids. ● When selecting and preparing meat, poultry, dry beans, and milk or milk products, make choices that are lean, low-fat, or fat –free. Fill in the following blanks with information from your 3-day average diet printouts. 1. List the amount of cholesterol for the following: Your Recommended Cholesterol Intake (mg) <300 mg Your 3-day Average of Cholesterol (mg) 482 mg 2.
