First Paragraph The essay “I See Why Others Choose to Die” written by Jerry Fensterman provides the most persuasive argument for assisted suicide. His argument is presented through the feelings, both emotional and physical, which a typical cancer patient experiences. How easy it is to make a determination regarding any topic until we, as individuals, are faced with the reality of any situation. The black and white shades of any moral compass can soften to gray areas when the subject is someone we care about. Right and wrong go out the window, and we begin to deal with the calamity on a more instinctual basis. My grandfather was in hospice and prescribed liquid morphine. The doctor told him strictly off the record that if the pain became too much to deal with, the easiest way to go would be too overdose on morphine. When I heard this, I was angry. I wanted him to continue to fight and not be told that there was an easier way out. I continued to watch his cancer ravage his body and soul. A few weeks later, my grandfather
