Solution The random variable associated is a Bernoulli trial, in which 0.60 p and 0.40 q . Use the geometric distribution and the desired probability is 4 (5) (0.4) (0.60) p . 2. ( 15 points ) Arrivals at a toll booth follow a Poisson distribution with mean 144 per hour. What is the probability of having more than three arrivals in the next ten minutes?
